Pawvlov Tech Specs
Built around behavioral science, not surveillance.
Three Sizes. One Protocol.
Same ESP32-S3, OV5640 camera, speaker, and auger motor in every unit — just different enclosure and tray sizes matched to your dog's breed.
Left to right: Pawvlov S (toy/small breeds), M (medium breeds), L (large breeds)

How Treats Get From Hopper to Dog
No tosses. No clicks. No flying treats. Here's the full mechanical path.
Treats loaded → Hopper (funnel) → Auger (metered) → Gate (one at a time) → Tray (dog eats)
Angled walls at 35° funnel treats downward by gravity. Snap-close lid with quarter-turn bayonet lock prevents spills. Anti-jam ribs on the inner walls prevent treat bridging — the same design principle used in commercial pet feeders.
A 12mm-pitch helical screw made from food-grade acetal (Delrin) meters treats one at a time. An N20 DC gear motor drives it at 2 RPM — one 0.8-second pulse = one treat delivered. Motor has current-sense stall protection: if the auger jams, the motor cuts before stripping.
A spring-loaded silicone flap at the auger exit prevents treats from free-falling. It opens only when the auger physically pushes a treat through — meaning treats can't tumble out on their own if the device is bumped or moved.
The delivery tray is a scoop shape — curved walls guide the treat to center. It sits flush with the floor so dogs don't need to reach up or over a lip to eat. Snaps onto the base with two tabs. Dishwasher-safe (top rack). No tools required to remove.
If the auger stalls (current spike detected), the motor reverses for 0.5 seconds to dislodge the jam, then retries. After 3 failed attempts, the app sends a "Hopper jam" push notification. A small vibration motor on the hopper wall also fires — agitating stuck treats loose without human intervention.
Tray snaps off in seconds. Hopper lifts straight out. Auger slides out after removing two Phillips screws (included). All food-contact parts — tray, hopper, auger — are dishwasher-safe. ABS enclosure wipes clean with a damp cloth.
Designed for Real Dogs
The engineering decisions that only matter when there's an actual anxious dog in the room.
Weighted steel base plate in every unit (200g S, 350g M, 500g L). Four non-slip silicone feet. Tested against a 70lb Labrador nosing and pawing — the device doesn't tip or slide. An anxious dog pushing toward the tray shouldn't knock over what's rewarding it.
The tray extends outward and downward — a scoop shape, not a flat shelf. Dogs naturally lower their head to eat from it, which reinforces a calm posture. No lip to reach over. The treat waits in the center of the scoop, visible and reachable without the dog having to crane its neck.
Camera tilts 15° downward from horizontal. At S height (2.5"), it captures a toy breed's full body from 3 feet. At M height (4"), it's exactly Labrador eye level. At L height (5.5"), it captures a large breed lying down. The angle was chosen to maximize body language data — not just a face shot.
Auger motor operates at 38dB — quieter than a refrigerator compressor (~45dB). Furbo's treat-toss mechanism clicks at 68dB. That's not a minor difference; 68dB is as loud as a normal conversation. For a dog already on the edge of panic, a loud mechanical click can trigger a fear response. Pawvlov is designed to be acoustically invisible.
Works with any dry treat 8–25mm diameter. Tested with: Zuke's Mini Naturals, Bil-Jac, Charlee Bear, Blue Buffalo Bits, standard kibble. Does NOT work with: jerky strips, dental chews, raw treats, or wet food. If it's soft, sticky, or irregularly shaped, it will jam the auger.
All food-contact surfaces (tray, hopper, auger) are FDA food-grade silicone or Delrin. No BPA. No phthalates. Enclosure is ABS plastic with UL94 V-0 fire rating — same standard as consumer electronics. The only dog-facing materials are FDA-cleared.

What's inside.
Dual-core processor with integrated WiFi and BLE handles on-device signal processing, motor control, and local behavioral classification. Real-time behavioral inference offloads to cloud via AWS IoT Core.
Mounted at 4 inches in the M unit — the eye level of a resting Labrador or Golden Retriever. 120° field of view captures full body posture. 15° downward tilt for full-body coverage. IR night vision activates automatically for low-light sessions.
The N20 gear motor (6V DC) drives the Delrin helical auger at 2 RPM — delivering one treat per 0.8-second pulse at 38dB operating noise. Quieter than a refrigerator compressor. The mechanism Furbo uses to fling treats? It clicks at 68dB.
